QVCS-Enterprise – Affordable, Cross-platform Version Control Solution
Review by on
Who can benefit from the functionality that QVCS-Enterprise provides? The answer to that question is quite simple: any software development team can take advantage of the functionality this Quma Software-developed application has to offer.

Speaking of functionality, what does QVCS-Enterprise has to offer? First of all it should be said that there is a QVCS-Enterprise version for the Microsoft-developed Windows operating system, a version for the Apple-developed Mac OS X, a version for Solaris, and a version for Linux. This means QVCS-Enterprise is cross-platform.

QVCS-Enterprise works on all these platforms because it is a 100% Java version control system. The fact that it is Java-based allows it to run on Windows, Mac OS X, Solaris and Linux.

Moving on, QVCS-Enterprise comes with a very easy to use GUI client, and it works quite well over the internet. As a matter of fact QVCS-Enterprise is a client/server application specifically designed for use over the Internet. That’s why it is such a great tool for geographically dispersed teams. Also, it is a great tool for local teams that work from different locations.

You should know that there are three versions of the QVCS applications: QVCS, QVCS-Pro and QVCS-Enterprise. All three of them are great version control tools. The thing is that QVCS and QVCS-Pro are good for the developer who works alone, or the developers who work in a small team at a specific location. By using QVCS-Enterprise the team doesn’t have to be at the same location. QVCS-Enterprise is specifically designed to provide excellent performance for geographically distributed teams.

Pros
  • Cross-platform
  • Easy to use GUI client
  • Works very well over the web
  • Create a variety of reports
  • Trial version is fully functional

Cons
  • Free to use only during the 60-day trial period
